Steve (better known as ‘Tutt’ to fellow racers) grew
up in the small town of Chillicothe, MO. He began
riding at seven, on his Honda 70
3-wheeler; at the same time his mother began
picking gravel from his front side. That never
slowed down the young Tutt. Steve has always
been willing to show off his eagerness for speed to
his family and friends.

Whether it has been on a dirt bike, street bike,
quad, or any other thing you can ride, Steve has
always pushed the limits. This has given him the
competitive drive that he is known for. Once he sets
his mind to something, you better believe he will
accomplish it.

Steve began riding competitively at age 22
(motocross) and it wasn’t until age 30 that he
began racing ATV’s. After only racing half of the
2002 season he placed 3rd in overall points at
HLR
Motorsports Park in the amateur class. This was
enough to drive him to compete at a higher level.
In 2003, he began his Pro riding career.  Because of his lack of
knowledge pertaining to sponsors and support he had to work harder
and ride harder than all of his competition to finish 2nd overall in points
at HLR Motorsports Park.

In 2006 while working his ‘back-to-reality’ job, Steve met Chad Newman
(owner of Area 51 Offroad) and began discussing his future racing
plans. Chad then decided to take a chance and sponsor Steve. It has
been a valuable partnership.

In 2007, they attended the Dealer Expo in Indy where Steve found out
about the infamous Pikes Peak International Hill Climb (PPIHC) race. It
is the second largest race of its kind. It wasn’t until months later that he
determined he needed that victory. And so began the rigorous training
and modifying of his quad. Tutt opted out of the National Races this
season to ensure that the quad was perfected for PPIHC. Don’t worry;
he will be back racing the National Circuit (Open Pro) in 2008.
Racing is not the only important thing
in Steve's life. His daughter, Brittany is
his MOST blessed achievement.
Steve would like to share with you what he has shared with his daughter. "No matter what
happens, NEVER give up on your dreams! Because if you work hard enough and stay
focused, all of your dreams will come true. To help you accomplish your dreams, always
surround yourself with motivated, focused, and energetic people."
